Medical industry giant Medtronic approached us to help them create some visualizations for their HVAD Heart Pump product. These visualizations are meant to be multi-purpose, to support sales and act as an educational tool for physicians and potential patients. The pump is very literally a life saving device. Accordingly, this project was high stakes as we needed to present some complex, detailed, and frankly intense subject matter cleanly and accurately.
In phase 1 of the project, we presented a full overview of the product. Starting macro with the full product offering and the types of patients served, to the micro with meticulously modeled representations of the VAD and a full demonstration of how it’s surgically installed, with simulations of blood flow through the device.

In phase 2 of the project, we tackled an explainer video for something called the “Lavare Cycle”. This is a method of adjusting the speed of blood flow through the device, based on algorithms, to ensure full “ventricle washing”. Once again, we were tasked with visualizing complicated material such that it could be digested by anyone, but was still accurate enough to hold up when reviewed by the medical community at large.
