do you know what ‘proton therapy’ is? how about ‘pencil beam scanning’? no? well, we didn’t either. turns out, it’s a revolutionary method of delivering radiation therapy to cancer patients. Mevion Medical Systems is a company helping to develop these treatments, and we were thrilled to be brought on as a small part of that venture, helping them create visualizations for their marketing and educational materials.
the project consisted of three phases. the first, an overview of the Mevion hardware, via a 3D tour from macro to micro. all the art direction, modeling, animation courtesy of snc.
we start outside an existing hospital, highlighting how the installation will work within the already established space. the scaling here was very important, as Mevion’s smaller footprint is an advantage over the competition.
from there, we move into the actual vault, highlighting the individual components.
for part 2, we dove deep on how the therapy actually works, and what makes it superior over classic radiation treatments. as you can imagine, this bit got complex. kudos to our client, who weren’t afraid to get their hands dirty with us in trying to make the science accessible/digestible for the audience. which, for this sort of thing, really is the rub.
